We wear these clothes: We often wear cotton t-shirts and long sleeved shirts with denim jeans because they are comfortable. We have a lot of rain in Vancouver so we wear nylon, Gortex or polyester jackets that keep us warm and dry. In the summer we wear shorts, t-shirts and flip flops but in the winter we often have leather boots on or canvas shoes. Children like to wear athletic shoes so they can enjoy the outdoors. We like to wear a lot of cotton because it is comfortable.
We eat these foods: We like to eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Seafood is also popular here. Vancouver is well known for salmon. We have a hatchery here in North Vancouver.
There are many restaurants in Vancouver and we love to go out for Sushi, pizza, burgers and fries. We also enjoy pasta and the meats we generally eat are chicken, beef and pork. We enjoy bread and sandwiches. Since we are a multicultural city, we enjoy foods from around the world.
We grow these foods: We grow fruits and vegetables such as blueberries, corn and wheat. Our local farms provide us with eggs and meat also.
We practice these religions: Many religions are practiced in our community as people from around the world live in Vancouver. Some religions include: Christianity, Judaism, Muslim faiths.
We speak these languages: Canada is bilingual so many people speak English and French. Many people here also speak other languages since they are immigrants from other countries.
These animals live in our area: Brown and black bears, squirrels, deer, raccoons, ducks, whales and skunks can all be found in our community.
These industries support our local economy: Tourism, forestry, mining, fishing and shipping are all industries that support our economy.
We use these types of transportation: Car and trucks are a major mode of transport for us. We also travel by bus, sky train(rapid transit), planes, bicycle and on foot.
